Audi A8 L 4.0T Sport: almost an S8

Were you hoping to get your hands on an Audi S8, but missed out on that work promotion you were expecting? Luckily for you Audi have come to the rescue with their new A8 L 4.0T Sport, which offers the majority of the S8’s thrills and at a fraction of the price.

As the long, awkward name suggests, the A8 L 4.0T Sport features the same 4.0L twin-turbo V8 engine that you’ll find in the S8, albeit in a lower state of tune. Here it produces 336kW (450hp), which is a bit less than the 388kW (520hp) offered in the S8, but you could hardly call it inadequate. Besides, it’s still good for a 0-100kmh (62mph) run of around 4.3 seconds, which isn’t exactly hanging around.

The A8 L 4.0T Sport also features a sporty looking front bar with larger air intakes, more sculpted side sills and 20-inch (or optional 21-inch) alloys to help give it a sporty, almost S8 look. It also comes standard with the Executive and Luxury packages, complimented by diamond-quilt stitching, and a headliner upholstered in Alcantara with a panoramic sunroof.

As you’d expect, it is priced a fair bit lower than the models which sit above it – clocking in at just US$90,500, compared to $114,900 for the S8 and $137,900 for the A8 L with the huge W12 engine.
