Jeremy Clarkson has revealed on Twitter that he has been “extremely busy” working on his new Top Gear replacement with Richard Hammond and producer Andy Wilman, but without James May – for now.
The former Top Gear presenter took to Twitter to inform his followers that James is “busy with other stuff” so hasn’t started working on the trio’s new car show for Amazon Prime. This appears to be true, with May recently spotted driving an Amphibious car in the River Thames and has also been seen driving a 1960’s Batmobile, reportedly for a new BBC show titled ‘Building Cars Live’.
He wrote: “To be clear, May is busy with other stuff but Hammond, Wilman and I are extremely busy putting our new show together. Much is already sorted”
Clarkson also apologised to fans for being away from Twitter, as these were his first tweets since August 17.
He tweeted: “Sorry about the lengthy absence from Twitter. These are very very very busy times. Fun though.”
While May isn’t currently working on the show with Clarkson and Hammond, Clarkson confirmed he will be in the new programme.
He wrote: “To be even more clear, filming starts in a couple of weeks. And yes, all of us will be involved.”
Clarkson’s tweets come just a day after May was quoted as saying “nothing has happened” on the new car show. May told reporters: “We haven’t got a name. We haven’t decided on the content … any of that stuff. So, honestly, nothing, nothing has Filmhappened.”
When asked how far along the show is, he replied: “I don’t know. Nowhere, to be brutally honest.”
But May did admit the trio had “possibly found an office to work from”.
