The Grand Tour has a new logo, tickets for Johannesburg available

Jeremy Clarkson knows how to pick his moments. With very little happening in the country, the former Top Gear host decided the time was right to reveal the logo for his new Amazon car show The Grand Tour which he will co-host with Richard Hammond and James May. Or perhaps the fact that it leaked on social media website Reddit just a few hours earlier forced his hand?

Writing on Twitter, he said: “Newspapers. As there is very little going on at the moment, I thought you’d like to see our new Grand Tour logo. It comes after Clarkson revealed how fans of the former Top Gear trio can join them on the new streaming show.

The motoring series is set to kick-start in the autumn and the presenter has asked his followers on Twitter if they would be interested in being part of the live studio audience as filming gets under way with James May and Richard Hammond. “You want tickets for our new show?” he wrote, followed by a link to the Applause Store website.

While fans can request free tickets for the first show, they will not be guaranteed. The first episode is set to be recorded on Sunday 17th July in Johannesburg, South Africa – so anyone who applies will need to be able to travel.

For months, Jeremy, Richard and James could not agree on a new name for the show after the trio all quit Top Gear last year. But now, after lots of deliberation – along with plenty of useful suggestions from the public – the guys have decided to call the upcoming series “The Grand Tour”, as the programme will see them travel around the world.

For the first time ever, the studio audience recording will travel every week to watch the programme get recorded in a giant tent.

  1. So the best name for the show they could come up with was a rip off from a video game. Now the best logo they can come up with is this? They must be desperate for the 80s to come back lol….

    • It is an interesting move for sure. I didn’t like the logo when I first saw it, but it might make more sense once the first episode becomes available. Perhaps the intro sequence will be retro styled with a 70’s or 80’s soundtrack?

  2. People still belive the “leaked” personal information thing…it’s a marketing stunt that companies like Apple started and it’s made to build the anticipation. And to be on topic I really like the logo, it’s simple enough (maybe drop the amazon original, it’s clutters the middle area.)
