Work on the next season of Top Gear has officially begun, with Matt LeBlanc, Rory Reid and Chris Harris pictured together at the track in Dunsfold.

A picture of the trio laughing was uploaded to the official Top Gear Twitter account, LeBlanc writing on his social media account: “It was kinda funny.”

Whether the three presenters will function as a new Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond, and James May remains to be seen; as yet, it seems LeBlanc will remain the show’s primary host.

Notably absent was Chris Evans, who hosted the show’s last season but revealed soon after it finished that he would not be returning. Many commentators have pointed to Top Gear’s low ratings as a possible reason for his absence.

Less than a month ago, LeBlanc signed a reported £2 million deal with the BBC to return to their flagship motor show.

Patrick Holland, BBC Two Channel Editor, said at the time: “I am thrilled that Matt LeBlanc is returning to Top Gear. He’s a huge talent whose love of cars is infectious. I can’t wait for the series to return to BBC Two next year.”

Meanwhile, the old Top Gear presenting trio are currently rolling forward with their Amazon Prime motoring show, titled The Grand Tour, the first trailer for which was released recently.

  1. beating a dead horse …
just pull the plug BBC commies …

Matt need money as he doesn’t have carrier after Friends , Chris sold him self and Rory is so phony (I presume the he is afraid that he will “destroy” carrier opportunity … his youtube videos wasn’t so lame)

    • “These were the best presenters from 23 for sure.”
unfortunately you are 100% right 🙂

They should put Tiff and that will be great (but of course Tiff couldn’t be trained to be PC )

      • I think that if you give these guys 3-4 more seasons it will be really good. The original trio had maybe 6 seasons before anyone started paying any attention. These are just my thoughts. I totally agree that it is not great but I think it could be eventually.

  2. Season 23 was a flat series as a whole. I didnt care for much of it, however i did see a recognizable trio in Rory Reid, Matt Leblanc, and Chris Harris. Not a living entity like Clarkson, Hammond and May, but something that can grow into its own. LeBlanc genuinely a petrol and you could feel it in his in blunt comedic enthusiam, Rory Reid feels like a growing journalist, and Chris Harris is oddly enough the passion of the petrolhead that much of the original fanship can follow. I am biased towards the motley crew that championed us for 22 seasons but i would be lying if i did not recognize that there is potential with season 24 of Top Gear. But that rally cross circuit needs to go.

  3. I like CH, RR and MLB – I hops the BBC give them space and time to just grow together, and that they let them be blokes saying and doing bloke things. If the feminazis don’t like it they can turn over and watch Poldark. As for Clarkson – he is a dying breed, there won’t be many more broadcasters like him – which is a BAD thing, TV has become a soulless box of bland fake personalities.

  4. Well,if they stick with them three it can be promising. I think for it to be successful, they need to keep it little bit bonkers, and DO NOT ADD ANYONE ELSE. I also think they should have a little bit of freedom with what they want to do on the show. I know it is never going to be as good as it was when JC, RH and JM was there, but it can be better than when Chris Evans was there.

  5. Being a “Yank” who is a huge fan of the show, I was not sure that Mr. LeBlanc was a good fit for the quintessentially British motoring show, but these three gentlemen, I feel, have the best chance of making Top Gear an enjoyable show again. I know they will never replace Jezza, Hamster, and Captain Slow, and I believe that Grand Tour will be a absolute jem, but I hold hope that Top Gear can survive and even thrive with these three men. I have hope in my heart that Top Gear can soldier on!

  6. Now that Shouty McShoutface has been dropped I’ll give s24 a go. Seriously Evans was like listening to a chalkboard being scrapped against another chalkboard.
