Top Gear Series 23 Sightings & Spoilers

The brand new Top Gear team have been spotted filming segments for the 23rd series of the show, although it’ll be unlike any which came before it. The series is scheduled to begin May 8th 2016, which only gives them a few months to get everything organised.

Below is a list of what I’ve found out about Series 23 of the show so far, and I’ll update this post with new sightings as they come to hand. If you’d like to keep up to date with how things progress, be sure to bookmark this page in your browser.

For those of you who require a formal spoiler warning: Top Gear Series 23 Spoilers are below!

Last sighting: 17th April 2016.

Chris Evans and Matt LeBlanc have visited a local Gaelic Football club in Dingle, Ireland, and the club decided to make their visit as memorable as possible by putting on an exhibition match.

The game between a Dingle Selection and An Ghaeltacht selection kicked off at 10am at Gallarus, with all locals invited to come and take part.

Former Labour TD Michael McCarthy had written to the BBC and the head of Failte Ireland to ask Top Gear to feature the Wild Atlantic Way and the West Coast on the show. “We’re inviting them over to do a show here which would be a wonderful promotion of the Irish tourism industry and I think also it will be very good for the programme itself,” he said.

The pair were driving Rolls Royce vehicles, and LeBlanc apparently thrilled a group of ladies on a hen night as he posed for selfies.

Evans, LeBlanc and Schmitz film at Rugby Club without permission, on the way to Venice (21/03/2016)

New Top Gear presenters Chris Evans, Matt LeBlanc and Sabine Schmitz have stunned members of Folkestone Rugby Club by unexpectedly turning up to film on their premises. The presenters arrived were said to have arrived in high-performance vehicles and reportedly started shooting “without permission”.

Chris Evans later posted the above photo on Twitter, saying “Which way to Venice please?” The photo shows LeBlanc on a Honda motorcycle, Schmitz standing beside an Audi, with Evans presumably driving the Jag.

Matt LeBlanc and Ken Block in the ‘Hoonicorn’ Mustang doing doughnuts in London (14/03/2016)

Matt LeBlanc and Ken Block were spotted racing and drifting across Tower Bridge in central London. The pair also ‘gatecrashed’ a staged wedding, and caused controversy when they performed burnouts in front of Britain’s best-known war memorial. You can read more about that here.

Willys Jeep VS Land Rover Series 1 tug of war (21/02/2016)

Chris Evans and Matt LeBlanc were spotted on Blackpool’s waterfront with a Willys Jeep and Land Rover Series 1. The paid engaged in a game of ‘tug of war’ in the miserable conditions, with the British side helped by a team of Rugby players, while LeBlanc was joined by a team of American Football ‘stars’. This is no doubt a continuation of the UK vs USA themed Reliant Robin race which took place the day before.

Reliant Robin race from London to Blackpool (19/02/2016)

Chris Evans and Matt LeBlanc were spotted filming the first episode of the new show with a trip to Blackpool. The duo were photographed in Reliant Robins, one emblazoned with an American flag and the other a United Kingdom flag, as they embarked on their adventure from BBC’s Broadcasting House in London.

The Top Gear team tweeted a photo of the duo, writing: ” It’s all smiles for @matt_leBlanc’s first day at work, but it’s 230+ miles to Blackpool. Without a roof. In Britain.”

Chris Evans & Sabine Schmitz in an R8 V10 at Laguna Seca (18/01/2016)

Spies on the Top Gear set have released photos of Chris Evans throwing up trackside, after he rode shotgun with Sabine Schmitz in an Audi R8 V10 at Laguna Seca Raceway in Monterey, California. Schmitz screeched to a halt when Evans felt ill, where he jumped from the car and leant against a crash barrier as the liquid gold flowed.

It is safe to say that motion sickness from Sabine’s legendary driving skills was to blame, but one could imagine that Evans’ stomach must be also churning from the situation he has now found himself in.

Evans spotted filming with Jenson Button (23/11/2015)

Chris Evans has been spotted with F1 ace Jenson Button driving a green McLaren 675LT, as they filmed for the next series of Top Gear at Dunsfold Aerodrome in Surrey this week.
