Clarkson, Hammond & May brainstorm names for their new show

Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond, and James May have released a new video which shows them brainstorming names for their new Amazon Prime show. It turns out that naming a TV Show is much, much harder than it looks.

In the video, Richard Hammond suggested it could be called ‘auto-mates’ and ‘tripod; – with James May dismissing the latter because it is “someone with an erection.” Clarkson’s suggestions of ‘Selling England by the Pound’ and ‘Watcher of the Skies’, were album and song titles by prog-rock band Genesis, and were promptly shot down.

Clarkson later mentioned on Twitter that the new show couldn’t have the word ‘gear’ in it because of legal reasons. Twitter users then put forward their own show title suggestions, which included ‘Three Guys, A Car and a Pizza Place’ and ‘2 Men and a Hamster’.

Here at TopGearbox we’ve always preferred the ‘Gear Knobs’ name, but with that name now seemingly off-limits, what do you think they should call it.

Just ‘Knobs’. No need for the leading ‘Gear’.

What about Clarkson, Hammond, and May On Cars? Sounds a bit like ‘encore’. BTW, haven’t seen the TG trailer… Why should they have the pleasure of logging my viewing?

Carmagedon? Karhmageden? The misadventures of Captain Slow, The Hamster and the Curly Hair Git? Overdrive? Oh Cock!? How easy could it be? Superior Cog? Pining for a Pinion

damn shame about the gear word cuz Gear Jammers could have worked also.

And they probably don’t have the rights to “the Stig” so Three Men and a Stig would have had a nice ring to it.

How about this, have a contest open for fans to suggest names for the new show. Let the winner come out and meet the hosts and the crew and race some cars. That would be awesome. 🙂
