With Series 2 of The Grand Tour just around the corner, Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May are back filming the studio tent sections of the show. As we mentioned last month, the tent isn’t actually touring this year and has instead been erected near Clarkson’s house in Chipping Norton – where it’ll remain for 13 weeks.
The Grand Tour’s official Twitter account revealed last night that the ‘live’ audience section of the Amazon Prime Video series began filming today, and James May followed up with a confirmation this morning.

Speaking about the decision to keep the tent in one place, Executive Producer Andy Wilman said: “It’s clear that the most popular ‘Grand Tour’ element of the show is when the chaps are roaming the globe on their big adventures and road trips, so that’s what we’re doing a lot more of for this season. We’ll keep the studio in one place, and given how accident prone they are at the minute, that can only be a good thing!”
Wilman is referring to the fact that Hammond was hospitalised earlier this year following a dramatic motorcycle crash in Mozambique where he was knocked unconscious. Not to mention the fact that he also narrowly escaped being burned to death in a fiery wreck of the Rimac Concept One electric supercar he crashed just 3 months later.
Clarkson himself also ended up being hospitalised with a severe bout of pneumonia soon after. Wilman later confirmed that Clarkson was back filming in September, adding, “We’re playing catch-up now with our filming schedule like crazy.”
Only May has been lucky enough to escape unscathed thus far, and can be seen above celebrating the occasion with a new Clarkson-esque haircut.
There is no word as yet on when the second series of The Grand Tour will be available to stream, but is expected to be released before the end of the year.

Bad things come in threes but it seems so far that the Mr slow is the way to go , so it’s basically The chipping Norton Tour , ok I accept this but we surely want to see the tent back around the world in season 3 (Australia is a must)
