Matt LeBlanc says Top Gear Series 24 will contain more humour

After a rough start for Series 23, it seems the BBC has changed tactics somewhat for Top Gear Series 24 – which is set to contain a few scenes that may remind viewers of the ITV show I’m a Celebrity, Get Me Out of Here.

Details have been revealed about a scene in the new series, in which presenters Matt LeBlanc, Rory Reid and Chris Harris were forced to eat a range of gruesome animal parts. Describing the incident, Harris said “The weirdest thing I saw? I saw Matt try and eat part of a horse that was used in some sort of reproductive process and give up quite early on.”

Each of the three presenters are set to receive equal screen time in the upcoming series, rather than focusing on one host in particular who has several sidekicks. It remains to be seen though, whether the BBC will be able to turn around the ratings slump experienced during Series 23 – which hit an all-time low of just 1.9 million viewers for the final episode. While that figure might sound high, an average of 6.49 million viwers would tune in each week to watch Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May.

Speaking of Clarkson, Hammond and May – LeBlanc has drawn comparison between three previous hosts and the new presenter lineup. “For the three guys that were on the show before us, it took them a while to build up a rapport,” LeBlanc insists. “This is the first season for the three of us, and it does take a little while. Everyone is open to getting along but it takes a little while to speed up the shorthand. We are now getting to a point where we are starting to click.”

LeBlanc has also said that he wants to bring more humour to the show, and revealed that one episode involves a 007 parody. “We film one in a Bond sequence that involves me driving an Aston Martin but centres around two guys poking fun at each other, having a good time,” he said.

It all sounds a bit similar to The Interceptors to us. What do you think?

  1. I think the real test to see if these 3 gel really well is to do an episode without cars abit like the Vietnam special which had no cars but is one of the best specials because of the chemistry etc .

    • They’re starting to work together, it will take a long time to them to have this kind of chemistry, just like Clarkson, Hammond and May had to work together that well…
