New Top Gear trailer for Series 24 receives mixed reactions

Despite a backlash from fans, the BBC are soldiering on with Series 24 of Top Gear – and they’re banking on hopes that their three stars will be able to replicate the success of the holy trinity that was Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May. Because obviously, when you’re going up against the biggest names in the business, the best thing to do is imitate them…

A source said: “The new trailer clearly shows the BBC attempting to establish the hosts as a trio. They had such great success with the former team, so it’s no surprise they’re hoping the formula will work once more.”

The new preview trailer for Series 24 (above) has so far been unable to win over the internet, receiving a mixed reaction amongst fans of the old show. ‘Who the fucking hell are they with Joey Tribiarni’, wrote one bemused watcher on Twitter.

Others are simply happy to have another motoring show to watch, while The Grand Tour is on break.

The BBC are hoping that the refinements made to the presenter lineup will help improve Top Gear’s ratings, after fans criticised the amount of presenters brought on board for Series 23 – and the fact that one of them was rather shouty.

So in a way, Matt LeBlanc is playing Jeremy Clarkson, Chris Harris is Richard Hammond, and Rory Reid is James May. But will they be able to recreate the magic of Top Gear’s glory days? Well, hopefully we won’t need to wait long to find out.

I thought it was rather cheeky to put out a new clip of TG just hours after GT had finished , but it’s ok I’m sure after series 24 GT will also put out a clip teaser for series 2

how bad could it be…..? the trailer was decent I thought- however the sword hanging over them is it looks a lot like the gt trio …. hopefully its a pepsi /coke sort of thing. both quite decent.
there are not enough car shows that are worth watching so we need all we can get.

Now that we’ve had TGT and our fix of Jeremy, Richard, and James, I’m ready to enjoy TG with some new hosts. To add to what Vancouver Bill said, Coke or Pepsi, you might have a favourite but you can’t tell the difference (and don’t care) when you add 3-shots of rum.

TGT wasn’t as great as old TG anyway. Maybe if TG is 30% as good as old, add that to the 70% good of TGT, I will have 100% enjoyment spread over a few months.
