Power and Efficiency:
The F-Pace I had on test was powered by a 3.0 litre V6 turbocharged Diesel engine that had 300PS on tap – and boasts a mind blowing top speed of 150mph, plus a 0-60 time of 5.8 seconds. Fuel consumption is also very good with a combined figure of 47.1 mpg. Jaguar really has made big strides in getting the most out of their engines – along with the ability to perform really well. The F-Pace also has 700Nm of torque – which basically translates into something quite spectacular when the next overtaking opportunity comes along or you need that extra grunt to fire you into the next stratosphere.
On the road:
The F-Pace is very good indeed – it feels very nimble and taut considering its size. I love the stable handling, smooth ride and agile response. You really can feel that the engineers have done a fantastic job of getting that balance just right. You also get a lot of good feedback from all four corners thanks to its AWD ability – giving you the confidence to push that little bit harder at the next twist in the road.
A big plus point for the F-Pace though is how well it pulls from pretty much any gear. Then there are the brakes – which feel very good and will easily have you at a controlled standstill in no time at all.
Safety and Technology
Safety also seems paramount for Jaguar because the F-Pace is fitted with; 6 airbags (driver and front passenger) with side curtain airbags, front side airbags and seat occupant detector for passenger. There is also ABS, Dynamic Stability Control + AEB, Emergency Brake Assist and Jaguar Drive Control –different modes are selectable by a button to optimise the vehicles response depending on driving conditions and style.
Space; inside the cabin is a big plus point for the F-Pace, as it has plenty of room for five adults. Boot space is good and even better with its split folding rear seat. Then there is the interior – I have never seen such attention to detail – everything fits perfectly and the materials used inside are first class.
Standard equipment on the F-Pace comes in the form of; a full fat ‘S’ styled bodykit, all wheel drive, torque vectoring, Front & rear parking aid, 8″ capacitive touchscreen, satellite navigation, dual zone climate control, cruise control with (ASL) LED rear lights, approach illumination, heated front seats, Jaguar smart key with keyless start, rain sensing windscreen wipers, Jaguar drive control, hill launch assist, Bluetooth telephone connectivity and audio streaming, split fold rear seat; 40:20:40, powered tailgate, electric parking brake, whiplash protection, land departure warning (LDW), all surface progress control (ASPC) – Auto only) DAB radio and DMB, Meridian sound system (380W). This of course is just a small amount of the features you can expect to see.
To sum up: Jaguar has shown that they can continually produce some really stunning vehicles. And for 50k, I doubt you could find anything as good as the Jaguar F-Pace ‘S’
